This program is for learners wishing to be involved in ships operations. On successful completion, learners will be competent with port operations, ships husbandry, maritime geography, ships construction and lifting gear, international trade orientation, marine risk and insurance and legal principles applicable to shipping. Learners complete either one of two electives, namely Managing Liner Trades or Occupational Health and Safety. Learners completing this program will be suitably qualified to apply for positions within ships agencies and related port companies. This program requires applicants to have a Matric Certificate NQF4, including positive results for both geography and math.

The purpose of this qualification is to build a foundation of competence in the ships agency field. This will provide learners with the conceptual framework to perform routine and non-routine functions. This serves as a sound foundation for further studies in the ships agency environment and initial employment within the shipping industry.
