The day skipper program is the licence required to sail a boat (over 9m in length) in South Africa, within 15 nautical miles of a port. It is the starting point to a career in the sailing industry.
Sailing is character building, exciting and invigorating. It teaches learners that will not only equip them for being at sea, but provide them with skills for everyday life too. Learners wishing to pursue a career at sea would use this program to access the industry. Your initial phase of training is a Yacht Hand, thereafter Day Skipper.
The course is internationally recognized and respected. The course runs for six months on a full time basis and requires dedication. It is immensely rewarding and enthralling, but requires a strong will as certain periods at sea may be testing especially during periods of uncomfortable weather conditions.
