Freight handling is the movement of cargo through the supply chain, which may require the operations of forklift trucks and cranes to load both containers and vessels. This could further include the use of straddle carriers which are used to position containers to the side of vessels.
Terminals and warehouses continually require the services of staff to manage the movement of cargo in and out of the port facilities and hence a qualified freight handler would be a sought after individual.
Through the successful completion of the Certificate in International Trade (one year course), followed by the Certificate in Freight Handling (second year) you can become this sought after person. During this period you would also receive your training to obtain a machine licence (forklift truck).
